Wire Mesh FacingEXPLANATION

  • Concept

It is a facing system using steel wire mesh to align and shape the slope of the reinforced structure. Vegetation and fire-retardant are compatible with this type of facing system.
  • Application

slope at earthquake zone or at narrow and fractured zone etc.
  • Characteristics

    1. Making use of in-situ soil to reduce both construction and cost and environmental impact.
    2. Excellent permeability.
    3. Wall surface can be vegetated for natural appearance finish.

Wire Mesh FacingCONSTRUCTION PROCESS

  • Foundation Levelling

Clean the ground surface of the site, and excavate in accordance with the levelling layout. Then compact the ground to the required compactness.

  • ACEGrid® Laying

Cut ACEGrid® to the size specified on the design drawing. ACEGrid® should be laid flat without any corrugation. Anchorage should be done with the anchorage interval specified on the design drawing.

  • Wire Mesh Facing Installation

Install the wire mesh facing with arrangement specified in the design drawing.

  • ACETex® Laying

Cut ACETex® to required size and lay it flat to the construction surface. The overlap of ACETex® should follow the specification mentioned on the design drawing.

  • Wire Struts Installation

Install bracing to the wire mesh facing in accordance with the design drawing.

  • Backfilling

Backfill at the back of the mesh wire facing. Then, perform compaction from the facing inward to the backfill area to meet the required compactness specified on the design drawing.

  • ACETex® Wrap-around

Wrap-around with the reserved length of ACETex®; make sure they are free of corrugation. Anchorage should be done with the anchorage interval specified on the design drawing.

  • Slope Shaping

Use excavator grab or available compactor to compact and shape the slope to requirement.

  • Layer-by-Layer

Repeat step 2 to 8 to achieve the required height specified in the design drawing.

  • Slope Vegetation

Perform slope vegetation to get a green and natural appearance, and also enhance the slope’s resistance to erosion.

Wire Mesh FacingDemonstrative Case

Road Rehabitation, Shing-Zu County, Taiwan

The road was destroyed and covered by tons of debris due to the landslides caused by typhoon. It would be very difficult and complex to handle the debris if the road were to be repaired using traditional construction method. With the steel mesh facing system, the debris can be used as backfill. Therefore, the problem of debris is solved. ACEGrid® and ACETex® are applied to stabilize the structure. Hence, the structure stands still even in the severe attacks of typhoons.
